Blogging and other forms of social media will be a large part of our attempt at creating a vibrant dialog between us and our students and their friends and family.

The world of driving and transportation is at a crossroads today, as environmental concerns, as well as an aging population, shape the future of both private and public transportation. 

In our attempts to be more than "just" a driving school, we hope that the information, stories and tips contained in our collection of blogs will inspire, inform, and provide the occasional laughter. Yes, we think a good sense of humor is vitally important when learning how to drive!

--Alliance Defensive Driving School: the central blog with general items pertaining to driving, and will contain sections dedicated to various topics, from the interesting and humorous, to the serious and interesting. We will answer our readers questions regarding all aspects of driving, and their concerns or problems that they might be having and are searching for answers to their questions.   

--The Driver Guy Gerald's personal blog where he will occasionally post as time permits. We highly urge people to read it as he is the true expert in driving laws, tips, and issues. And he's got a great sense of humor, as anyone who's been with him knows!

--The Highway Our Guest Blog for those who want to impart their knowledge about a particular concern or give helpful tips about a variety of topics. Please contact us if you would like to participate.

We want to give a warm welcome to the students of San Marcos High School and a special thanks to the San Marcos PTO for including us in their website!

Also, as stated in the PTO website, Alliance Defensive Driving School will be donating 5% of the driver's ed. fee from every student that signs up to the SMPTO.

LINKS IN THE SPOTLIGHT


The Lev Foundation: A website dedicated to the memory of Daniel Levian, 25, killed in a drunk driving accident in the car that was being driven by his friend, after a party in which an over abundance of alcohol had been consumed.
Instead merely mourning Daniel, his friends and family, realizing that the efforts to curb driving under the influence was obviously not reaching young people, decided to start a foundation that took a proactive approach to the issue of drunk driving. Focusing on a multifaceted angle, combining traditional and unorthodox methods of getting the message out, the organization concentrates on three areas:  Education and Outreach, Community and Events, Transportation Solutions.


The Foundations' ThinkSmart Transportation Program provides taxi vouchers through their website for any event that registers on their site, thus providing transportation without the fear of not having money to pay for a taxi or fearing having no forms of transportation other than driving after a party.

THE SEAT BELT (All About Safety)

During wet days, please drive extra carefully. A car should be traveling at 5 to 10 mph slower than the posted speed limit in wet weather and a space cushion of twice the length of the car in front should be observed.

California Vehicle Code Section 22352 explains it in detail here


We know! This makes for very boring, dry reading, as most legal writing is...but the information is designed to save lives! Please, use the utmost caution while you're out there...we want our friends and everybody else to stay safe and sound!

In fact, if you don't feel that you can safely drive in difficult conditions, and you find that you don't absolutely have to: heed our advice: DON'T! It's better to be safe than sorry. There's no shame in telling people that you'd rather not drive until the conditions subside significantly.
